A PPS number for non-resident directors of Irish companies.
A Personal Public Service (PPS) number is Ireland's unique identifier for tax, social welfare and public services. It is seven digits followed by one or two letters.
Directors must give the CRO a PPS number (or a Verified Identity Number) on key filings, including:
- Form A1, incorporating a company
- Form B1, the annual return
- Form B10, director changes
- Form B69, a director's notice of ceasing office
The CRO uses PPS numbers only to verify identity and link directors to their companies. They do not appear on the public register.
A director who wants to take a salary from an Irish company must have a PPS number.
