No PPS number? Get a Verified Identity Number for your CRO filings.
Company directors must give the CRO a PPS number on key filings, such as incorporation (Form A1), annual returns (Form B1) and director changes (Form B10). Directors who don't have a PPS number need a Verified Identity Number (VIN) instead. The CRO will not accept these filings without one.
You apply for a VIN using Form VIF (Declaration as to Verification of Identity). One VIN per director is enough for all future CRO filings.
About Form VIF
- It records the director's full name, date of birth, nationality and address.
- It must be signed with a wet-ink signature and witnessed as the CRO requires. Electronic signatures are not accepted.
- The CRO emails the VIN to the applicant once processed.
- The details are held securely by the CRO and are not made public.
PPS number, VIN or RBO number?
- PPS number: needed for directors who take a salary from an Irish company.
- VIN: for directors without a PPS number, used only for CRO filings.
- RBO transaction number: an existing one is treated as a VIN.
